Avoiding 0870 charges

posted in .net 'n' tech. by puzz1ed1 |

Many people are frustrated at having to pay to call companies on an 0870 number, as they rarely come out of any ‘inclusive minute’ bundles, nor are they included in ‘free evening call’-type packages.  Not only that, but the companies are raking in money all the time they keep you on hold etc etc….  Often there is an alternative number you can call, but many companies (Sky in particular) are now preventing these other numbers from connecting.

I’ve now got a way to avoid that, though, and thought it was worth sharing.   It’s still not technically ‘free’ as the calls come out of my inclusive minutes on my mobile, but I’ve far more of those than I ever use so it’s not a problem.  All you need to do is call
07744 97 3815
and then enter the number you want to call.  It works for all 01 and 02 landline numbers, 0845, 0870, and several international numbers too!
