Just a quick test for tired brains
Answer the following questions instantly. You can’t take your time, answer all of them immediately . OK?
Let’s find out just how clever you really are….
First Question:
You are participating in a race. You overtake the second person. What position are you in?
Answer: If you answered that you are first, then you are absolutely wrong! If you overtake the second person and you take his place, you are second!
Second Question:
If you overtake the last person, then you are…?
Answer: If you answered that you are second to last, then you are wrong again. Tell me, how can you overtake the LAST Person?
Third Question:
Very tricky arithmetic! Note: This must be done in your head only . Do NOT use paper and pencil or a calculator. Try it.
Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000 . Now add 30 . Add another 1000 . Now add 20 . Now add another 1000 Now add 10 . What is the total?
Did you get 5000? The correct answer is actually 4100.
If you don’t believe it, check it with a calculator!
Fourth Question:
Mary’s father has five daughters:
1. Nana, 2. Nene, 3. Nini, 4. Nono.
What is the name of the fifth daughter?
Did you Answer Nunu? NO! Of course it isn’t. Her name is Mary. Read the question again!
bonus round:
A mute person goes into a shop and wants to buy a toothbrush. By imitating the action of brushing his teeth he successfully expresses himself to the shopkeeper and the purchase is done.
Next, a blind man comes into the shop who wants to buy a pair of sunglasses; how does HE indicate what he wants?
He just has to open his mouth and ask… It’s really very simple….

It seems there’s a glitch in the page design somewhere, that is causing the site to not display properly for some people - sorry about that!
The screen should look similar to the image below (click on image to view larger version). Main problem seems to be with the right-hand navigation column not displaying, or with some boxes not fitting in the coloured bars.

If you’re display is screwed up, please let me know what browser/version you are using and, if you know it, your screen res also. Easiest way is to add a comment to this post.

Just been checking up on disabled access at Hamleys. They’ve added the following comment to the accessibility survey at DirectEnquiries:
We have two customer lifts serving all floors and also a fire fighting lift that can be used when the store is very busy. As with all our customer toilets these are checked on a half hourly basis.
I’m just hoping that there are no CCTV cameras in the lifts now, cos I’m not feeling very comfortable about peeing in a lift as it is, but would be far worse with an audience :-s

As you may know, I was interviewed recently as part of an emerging study and research into the issue of Disabled Fathers. A one-day workshop was organised by the University of Hull a couple of weeks ago, and the discussion papers from that are now available online. As their site says
There is little in the way of an evidence-base about the experiences and needs of disabled fathers. They have been marginalised within relevant bodies of research, including work on fathers, masculinities, disability and parenting. This knowledge gap is troubling both because a range of policy agendas increasingly highlight the importance of fathers, and because anti-discrimination legislation has recently been extended to the provision of services. Without a fuller understanding of the experiences and needs of disabled fathers, the development of appropriate responses to their exclusions will be hampered, and initiatives around disability, fathering and parenting will be limited in their inclusionary potential.

Amazing how much can happen in 24 hours.
I’ve been to the Pain Management Clinic, had it confirmed again that I have FMS, and referred onto a seven week multi-disciplinary course of Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy. Of course, the NHS being what it is I don’t expect to start this until the Summer!
A local school has asked me to help them in setting up a couple of new programmes. The loft’s full of resources, so it’s great that some of them will be put to good use for a while. I don’t know that I’ll be doing much more than that though – don’t think my body’s up to it.
Have also been commissioned to write an article for a national parenting magazine, to start their new section for Dad’s. How cool is that?! They want a photo too… feel free to flick through the album and suggest which one to submit! Needs to be of me and SJ.
Really should go do the ironing or something equally useful but still sore from being prodded and poked, so gonna lie here and play games instead. Or start writing. Nah, games it is…

Smiling is infectious,
You catch it like the flu.
When someone smiled at me today

I started smiling too.
