Bob & Wendy

Something that’s been puzzling me more and more lately…. just what is the relationship between Bob the Builder and Wendy? Does anyone know?

Isabella’s birthday

I had lots of fun at Isabella’s Party (far right). She looked quite tired by the end though. I don’t know who the other girl is but she had chocolate biscuits, so I like her :-)

Help with new project?

About to start work on a new project for a local counselling service, moving the existing website across to a WordPress-based system similar to this. Once it’s all across to WordPress there will lots of benefits to users and workers alike and it should mean that the site is able to help benefit many more people in various ways.

Why the post? There’s a fair bit of copy-and-paste to do in order to get it all setup. Each of the existing pages, or parts of pages, needs to be recreated as a text file on the new system. If anyone’s bored enough to want to help with the copy/paste process then leave a message and I’ll get back to you. If you’re really keen then there’ll be plenty of other bits to be done along the way too – the plain text will need a touch of style and formatting added to it- and it’s always helpful to have a few critical eyes to look over it all as we go along.

If you’re interested in helping, get in touch! You’ll be paid the same as me for any time given… a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you’ve helped help others to help themselves and each other ;-)

(this post is ‘sticky’ and currently appears at the top of the page even though it is not the most recent post… they’re below….)

Home Shopping (rant)

Need to rant. Grrr….

Just tried ASDA Home Shopping – never again! Called before ordering to check that they’d bring the shopping upstairs, me being disabled n all. Apparently that was no problem and a note was made on the account.

Shopping arrived bang on time. Very impressed. Driver knew nothing about bringing it in though and stood by the door and asked if I was coming to get it. He wasn’t too happy and went off to park his van slightly more legally before bringing the shopping in.

Then noticed two big bags of oranges that I didn’t remember ordering, but anything’s possible given the ‘fibro-fog’. Then noticed a few other things I didn’t remember ordering. Hmmm…

Checked with the ASDA man if he was sure it was all ours. He said he was but popped outside again to check. Turns out we were order 405 and some of the bags were from a box marked 406. Aha!

He toddled off with 3 bags of shopping I felt sure weren’t mine, leaving us to unpack. Sadly that wasn’t the end of it!

Found various other things that weren’t ours – though I’m sure we can put them to good use. Lots of Babybel and Cheesestrings n stuff that SJ will love. But also forty-five — that’s 45 — items that we had ordered missing! Seven phone calls later we still don’t have them, and no one seems to know if we ever will!

Have been having a fight with Amazon for the past week, too, cos they insist my devit card has been ‘declined by card issuer’. Card issuer insist Amazon have not processed any payment requests. Grrrr…

Is home shopping really worth all the hassle?!

System Upgrade – update

Well, if you’ve stopped by before then you’ll know that some upgrading and updating has already taken place.  The fresh new look isn’t all that’s happened, though.  WordPress, the software that powers this site, has been updated and that was the reason for the changes – it was easier to change the style and everything at the same time as the underlying code.

I had fun creating the photo collage at the top of the page at least!

There are still a few other tweaks going on, and hopefully a few other features returning, or coming to the site for the first time.  Some of them are here already but just can’t be seen…. I’m working on that.

Hope you’re feeling as bright and fresh as the new design.

Have a good day!

Delicious

OK, so a rather unfortunate choice of title given the last post, but the two aren't related.

Just been updating my del.icio.us links since they can now be more closely incorporated into Firefox. If you really have nothing better to do, then you can always drop in and see what random addresses I've found and bookmarked.  Be fair, though, and share yours in return – I might be bored one day soon too.

Poison Ivy and Potato?

Had to go to the dentist today – been putting it off for ages.  Nothing too serious in the end, just need to go back for a filling having cracked a tooth :-(

Spent longer filling in forms than I did actually seeing the dentist.  Never realised there were so many endings for the question 'Have you ever suffered from…' lol

Yet after all the questions they give you a ridiculously small space to 'provide further details if you answered yes to any of the questions, including details of medical conditions and medication/tablets taken'

Figured it was important that they knew about me and penicillin not being friends, but that just about filled the space.  Listed other conditions as briefly as possible, and then went on the list the medication and tablets…. well, ok, I was selective.  Becotide, Betahistine, Mebeverine, Citalopram, Co-codamol – all well and good.  Heck, the names mean nothing anyway to the untrained eye but he'd know what they were and that was all that mattered.  Omitted the others though, and on reflection it was probably best.  I mean, they're not common names even to someone with his training and how do you explain what they are without being written off as a nutter.

Yes, Doctor (sorry, Dentist) I eat poison ivy, liquorice root and african potato tubers daily.

Just glad he wasn't wearing a white coat

Why Why Why?

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the
batteries are getting weak? Don’t even deny it!

Why do banks charge a fee on “insufficient funds” when they know
there is not enough?

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion
stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Why doesn’t glue stick to the bottle?

Why do they use sterilised needles for death by lethal injection?

Why doesn’t Tarzan have a beard?

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you
throw a revolver at him?

Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Whose idea was it to put an “S” in the word “lisp”?

If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?

Why is it that no matter what colour bubble bath you use the bubbles
are always white?

Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?

Why do people constantly return to the fridge with hopes that
something new to eat will have materialized?

Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end on your first
try?

How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?

When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a
shopping trolley then apologises for doing so, why do we say, “It’s
all right?” Well, it isn’t all right, so why don’t we say, “That
hurt,you stupid idiot?”

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that’s falling
off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in
summer when we complained about the heat?

How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their
vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it
down
to give the vacuum one more chance?
